Medications & Pharmacy

How prescriptions work, pharmacy standards, and what to expect.

No. Your membership covers physician consultations, protocol design, ongoing monitoring, coaching, and support. Medications are prescribed by your physician and filled through a compounding pharmacy separately. This keeps your membership focused on the clinical relationship and allows for fully customized prescriptions.

All medications are sourced exclusively from 503A or 503B accredited compounding pharmacies. 503A pharmacies compound individual prescriptions tailored to you. 503B pharmacies are FDA-registered outsourcing facilities that produce medications under stricter federal oversight. This ensures the highest quality and safety standards for every prescription.

503A pharmacies compound medications based on individual prescriptions. Your physician writes a specific order and the pharmacy compounds it for you. 503B pharmacies are FDA-registered outsourcing facilities that can produce larger batches under Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) standards. Both are accredited and held to strict quality standards. Covenix works with both types depending on the medication and protocol.

Medication costs vary depending on your individual protocol. As a general guide: compounded testosterone cream (high-dose) runs approximately $160 for 3 months, DHEA SR (sustained release) is approximately $40-50 for 3 months, and other medications like desiccated thyroid, progesterone, and estradiol vary by dose and formulation. Your physician will discuss expected costs during your consultation.

Protocols differ significantly between men and women. Male protocols often center around testosterone optimization, DHEA, and thyroid support. Female protocols (for example, postmenopausal women) may include estradiol, testosterone cream, progesterone, and desiccated thyroid. Every protocol is individualized based on YOUR lab results. There is no cookie-cutter approach at Covenix.

Pricing & Membership

Program costs, what's included, and commitment terms.

Covenix offers three tiers: Core ($249/month) for physician-guided hormone optimization with monthly async check-ins and prescription management (labs billed separately ~$190/draw); Standard ($399/month) which adds monthly 20-min video check-ins, 2 urgent care visits per year, priority peptide access (when Category 2 peptides become available), and preferred pricing on regenerative medicine procedures including MUSE stem cell therapy and orthobiologic injections (coming soon, labs billed separately); and Executive ($999/month) for white-glove concierge medicine with monthly 30-min video check-ins, unlimited urgent care visits, quarterly labs included, same-day messaging response, direct physician access, and preferred pricing on regenerative medicine. All tiers require a 3-month minimum commitment.

The Performance Evaluation ($397) is the required first step before any membership. After booking, we send you a lab requisition via Ulta Lab Tests within 24 hours. You walk into any Quest Diagnostics location (no appointment needed), get your blood drawn, and results are back in 24-48 hours. Your physician then reviews every biomarker and meets with you via Zoom for a 60-minute consultation to build your personalized optimization strategy.

All memberships have a 3-month minimum commitment. This allows enough time for your protocol to take effect and for follow-up labs to measure progress (typically done at 12 weeks). After the initial 3 months, you can cancel at any time with no penalties or long-term contracts.

Medications are not included in the membership fee. The membership covers your physician relationship: consultations, protocol design, monitoring, coaching, messaging, and urgent care access. Medications are prescribed and filled separately through accredited compounding pharmacies. For Core and Standard members, follow-up labs (~$190/draw via Ulta/Quest) are an additional cost. Executive members have all quarterly labs included in their membership.

Labs & Testing

The lab process, what's tested, and how results are used.

Your Performance Evaluation ($397) includes a comprehensive Ulta/Quest lab requisition ordered by your physician. You walk into any Quest Diagnostics location (no appointment needed) for a standard blood draw. Results are typically available within 24-48 hours. This covers your full hormone baseline including testosterone, estradiol, thyroid, DHEA, progesterone, and metabolic markers.

All follow-up labs are comprehensive blood draws at Quest Diagnostics, ordered through Ulta Lab Tests by your physician. This covers all advanced markers including testosterone, thyroid, metabolic panel, DHEA, and more. Core and Standard members pay approximately $190 per draw (billed directly through Ulta). Executive members have all quarterly labs included in their membership.

Labs are required so your physician has real, objective data to work with. Your comprehensive panel reveals your hormonal levels, metabolic markers, thyroid function, and more. This data-driven approach is what separates Covenix from clinics that prescribe based on symptoms alone.

Not necessarily. If you have labs drawn within the last 90 days that include the required markers, you may qualify for the Lab Review Consultation at $150 instead. This is a 60-minute telehealth consultation where your Covenix physician reviews your existing results and builds your optimization protocol. To use this pathway, your labs must include testosterone (total and free), estradiol, DHEA-S, TSH, free T3, free T4, complete metabolic panel, CBC, and PSA (men only). If any required markers are missing, you will be directed to complete the full Performance Evaluation. Contact us at [email protected] to confirm your labs qualify before booking.

Yes. Follow-up labs are typically done at 12 weeks to track progress and fine-tune your protocol. Your physician orders the requisition through Ulta Lab Tests and you walk into any Quest Diagnostics location for the draw. Core and Standard members pay approximately $190 per draw. Executive members have quarterly labs included in their membership.

States & Availability

Where Covenix operates and which provider serves your state.

Dr. Christien Peña, MD is licensed in 10 states: California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Florida, Montana, Missouri, Illinois, Colorado, and Tennessee. Reagan Wheeler, MSN, MBA, APRN, FNP-C practices independently in Washington, Oregon, and Arizona, and under Dr. Peña's medical direction in Florida and Missouri. Together, Covenix serves 13 states and is actively expanding.

Your provider is determined by your state of residence and the licensing requirements in that state. When you order your labs, you'll be matched with the appropriate provider. In states where both providers are licensed, you may have a choice.

Covenix is a fully virtual telehealth practice. Consultations are conducted via Zoom. Labs are done at any Quest Diagnostics location using a requisition we order through Ulta Lab Tests. No appointment needed, walk in at your convenience. Medications are shipped directly to your door from accredited compounding pharmacies. You never need to visit a clinic.

We are actively expanding to additional states. If your state isn't currently listed, we recommend taking the Performance Gap Quiz and submitting an inquiry. We can let you know if your state is coming soon and add you to our notification list.

Urgent Care

How the built-in urgent care benefit works.

Covenix members get access to urgent care consultations with their Covenix physician. Dr. Christien Peña is a board-trained Emergency Medicine physician. Standard members receive 2 urgent care consults per year. Executive members get unlimited 24/7 access. This is a real physician, not a chatbot, not a nurse hotline. It covers acute illness, medication questions, drug interactions, injury assessment, and more.

The key difference is continuity of care. Your urgent care physician already knows your labs, medications, and optimization protocol. There's no need to explain your medical history from scratch. Your Covenix provider can assess your situation with full context of your current treatment plan, which means safer and more informed care.

Standard members receive 2 urgent care visits per year. Executive members get unlimited urgent care access with direct provider availability. Core members can add urgent care visits on a per-visit basis ($99/visit).

BHRT Education

Understanding bioidentical hormone replacement therapy.

BHRT stands for Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy. It uses hormones that are molecularly identical to those your body naturally produces, including testosterone, estrogen, progesterone, and thyroid hormones. Unlike synthetic hormones, bioidentical hormones are designed to match your body's natural chemistry.

World Link Medical is an advanced certification program in hormone optimization and anti-aging medicine. Both Dr. Peña and Reagan Wheeler are World Link Medical trained, which represents a higher standard of BHRT education beyond standard medical training. This specialized training ensures your providers are at the forefront of hormone optimization science.

No. While BHRT is commonly associated with menopause and andropause (male hormonal decline), hormonal imbalances can affect people at various ages. Stress, lifestyle factors, environmental exposures, and genetics can all impact hormone levels. Covenix uses lab data to identify imbalances regardless of age. If your labs show a gap, optimization may be appropriate.

Results vary by individual, but many patients begin noticing improvements in energy, sleep, and mood within the first few weeks. More significant changes in body composition, recovery, and overall performance typically develop over 8-12 weeks, which is why follow-up labs are done at the 12-week mark to measure progress objectively.

GLP-1 & Weight Loss

GLP-1 medications and metabolic optimization at Covenix.

Yes. Covenix physicians can prescribe compounded GLP-1 medications as part of a comprehensive metabolic optimization protocol. GLP-1 receptor agonists are prescribed based on your lab data, body composition goals, and clinical history. They are not prescribed in isolation, your physician integrates GLP-1 therapy with your hormone optimization protocol to protect lean muscle mass and support long-term metabolic health.

Brand-name GLP-1 medications (Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, Zepbound) are FDA-approved and manufactured by pharmaceutical companies. Compounded GLP-1 medications are prepared by 503A or 503B accredited compounding pharmacies and are not FDA-approved products. Covenix uses only accredited compounding pharmacies that meet strict quality standards. Compounded versions are typically more affordable and allow for customized dosing. Your physician will discuss which option is appropriate for your protocol.

GLP-1 medications are prescribed as part of your protocol but are not included in the membership fee. Like all medications at Covenix, they are billed separately through the compounding pharmacy. Your physician will provide a cost estimate during your consultation. Compounded GLP-1 medication typically runs $200-$350/month depending on dose.

Muscle loss is a real risk with GLP-1 therapy when used without proper hormone and nutrition support. This is why Covenix integrates GLP-1 prescribing with your full hormone optimization protocol. Testosterone optimization, adequate protein intake, and resistance training are critical to preserving lean mass during weight loss. Your physician will monitor your body composition and adjust your protocol to minimize muscle loss.

GLP-1 medications are not appropriate for everyone. Contraindications include a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2), pancreatitis, and certain gastrointestinal conditions. Your physician will review your medical history and labs before prescribing. A thorough clinical evaluation is required, Covenix does not prescribe GLP-1 medications without a proper consultation.
